Cosmetic procedures are medical treatments aimed at enhancing a person’s appearance. In many cases, the goal is to boost self-confidence, soften visible signs of ageing, or address physical features that are perceived as undesirable. These treatments can be divided into surgical and non-surgical procedures.
Surgical procedures
Surgical treatments involve structural changes to the body and are performed in a clinical operating environment. Examples include facelifts, liposuction, breast augmentation or reduction, abdominoplasty, rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty. These procedures are medically led and require a surgical setting.
Non-surgical procedures
Non-surgical treatments are less invasive and typically involve minimal downtime. Common examples include botulinum toxin injections, dermal fillers, laser treatments, chemical peels and microneedling. These procedures are usually carried out in clinics, skin institutes or medical aesthetic practices.
